T.N.Chaturvedi
BANGALORE: Governor T.N. Chaturvedi has appealed to the people and leaders of all sections of public opinion and organisations of Karnataka to maintain calm and tranquillity in every part of the State, especially the city of Bangalore, during the call for State-wide bandh on Monday. In a statement issued here on Sunday, the Governor has said the good name and prosperity of Bangalore and Karnataka was in the hands of people. He has expressed his gratitude towards all for helping in maintaining peace during the recent emotional moments. "I express my appreciation of the law and order machinery for the restraint and vigilance with which it has conducted itself for the good of the State. We must ensure that every single person living and working in Bangalore or elsewhere in the State does not harbour any fear or insecurity," the statement said. Asserting that the protection of life and property of all people as well as public property, both Central and State Government, is the duty and responsibility of the State, the statement said: "The poor daily workers or wage earners, the sick and diseased, ailing children requiring medical help must not suffer in anyway" "We fully understand your sense of anguish about the State's legitimate claims. We must, with one voice, continue to pursue in unison and with solidarity, irrespective of all political or other differences, peacefully and determinedly take recourse to all the legal and constitutional means open to us as a democratic country. I hope we will overcome the present situation," the Governor added in the statement.
