57 lakh children given polio vaccine

BANGALORE:
As many as 57 lakh children were administered polio vaccine as part of the Pulse Polio drive carried out in the State on Sunday.
The total coverage in the State was nearly 80 per cent. Mandya had the highest percentage (93.4) of children immunised in the State. In North Karnataka districts, the coverage was better than during the earlier drives, officials in the Reproductive and Child Health department said.
In Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike limits, 75 per cent of children were covered.
The house-to-house campaign will start from February 13.
