Showers continue to lash Capital
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
Strong showers lashed Delhi for the second consecutive day on Sunday leading to a significant drop in the temperature. And giving out a clear message that the winters are not over as yet, the weatherman has forecast a continuation of the overcast conditions and rain over the next three days.
Delhi recorded 3.8 mm of rain between 8-30 a.m. and 8-40 a.m. on Sunday. With this the total precipitation since Saturday morning went up to 40.4 mm.
The winter rains also took the mercury down with them and the city experienced a cold Sunday. While the maximum temperature plummeted a good three degrees below normal to stand at 20 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature was four degrees below normal at 13.6 degrees Celsius, said a Meteorological Department official.
The cold and wet conditions caused by a western disturbance, that created a low pressure area over Pakistan, are expected to continue for the next three days. On Monday, the weather office said the Capital will witness a partly cloudy sky and there could be thundery developments and squalls in some areas.
