Man dies as motorcycle skids

CHENNAI : A 63-year-old man died when his motorcycle skidded and jumped the median on Velachery Main Road at East Tambaram on Sunday.

L. Raman, a resident of Ranganathan Nagar in Selaiyur, had gone to Tambaram and was returning home on motorcycle.

Eyewitnesses said the vehicle skidded as the wheels got entangled in the silt accumulated near the mediaThe vehicle was dragged for some distance before it fell across the other side. Raman, who was not wearing a helmet, fell on the road and was seriously injured on the head.

The body was sent to the Chromepet Government Hospital for post-mortem.
