Vijayakant kicks off campaign for civic repoll

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Vijayakant on Saturday kicked off the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam's campaign for the upcoming Corporation repoll on February 18 with a public meeting and door-to-door campaign.

Besides the public meeting on Pulla Reddy Avenue, he took to the streets to campaign in support of DMDK candidates in 13 wards. The areas included Light House, Nochi Kuppam, Mylapore, Mandaveli, Adyar and Thiruvanmiyur.

He accused the ruling party of announcing grand schemes that were not completed fully. He also flayed the alleged corruption in institutions of public health and claimed that the quality of education in Corporation schools left a lot to be desired.

He urged voters to bravely cast their votes for the party that could bring change.

His campaign trail on Monday includes Periyar Pathai, Choolaimedu, Nungambakkam, Ayodhya Mandapam, Kamarajar Salai, Jafferkhanpet, Virugambakkam, Gandhi Nagar and Chinmaya Nagar. The DMDK has fielded candidates in 62 wards.
