Two drivers held

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI : Two youths, who were working as drivers for a doctor couple in the city, were arrested and a city court remanded them to judicial custody on charges of abusing a teenaged girl.

Police said that the girl employed in the doctor's house in KK Nagar had complained of misbehaviour by the drivers to her parents living in Dharmapuri district. After registering a case, the Dharmapuri police transferred the case to the Chennai police.

Commissioner of Police Letika Saran directed Assistant Commissioner of Police Umayal to investigate.

Discreet inquiries revealed that Chellappan (24) and Rajini (26), who hailed from Thanjavur district, had allegedly misbehaved with the girl.

Based on the confession, a statement was recorded and the two were produced before a city court on Saturday. The doctor couple had already obtained an anticipatory bail, police said.

Further investigation is on.
