MANGALORE: Former Minister R.V. Deshpande has termed the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal as "great injustice" to Karnataka. He, however, hailed the reported assurance of Union Minister for Water Resources Saifuddin Soz not to notify the final award for another year. Mr. Soz's assurance is the only silver lining in what has otherwise been "a bleak and unfavourable judgment" on a very emotive issue for the entire State, Mr. Deshpande told presspersons on the sidelines of an official function here on Saturday. Stating that no decision had been arrived at the all-party meeting , he said the State had not received full text of the award to have a debate on it. The Government should ensure that the injustice done to the State was rectified, and the interests of the farmers and all concerned were protected, he said.
