Dispute over property results in murder

BANGALORE: A verbal duel over a property dispute ended in the murder of a man on Pipeline Road in Kumaraswamy Layout police station limits on Saturday.

According to the police, Vinod (20), the accused, had a dispute with his uncle, Ramesh, over the ownership of an ancestral property. The dispute arose after the death of Vinod's father recently.

On Saturday, Vinod and Ramesh had a verbal duel. In the heat of argument, Vinod hit Ramesh on his head with a stick. Ramesh was shifted to a private hospital, where he died.

The police have arrested Vinod and have recovered the stick used by him in the crime.

Killed in accidents

A 60-year-old man riding pillion on a motorcycle was killed after it was hit by a lorry near NGEF Junction on Sunday.

According to the police, Ramachandra, the victim, a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar, was on the way to Cantonment Railway Station to catch a train to Chennai. His son, Raghunath, was riding the motorcycle. Raghunath, who has been injured, is being treated in a private hospital. The Byappanahalli traffic police have registered a case.

Aruchamy (63), a native of Palakkad, riding pillion on a motorcycle was killed after it was hit by a bus in Nandini Layout on Sunday. The rider, Sanjeev Kumar, was admitted to private hospital, where he died.

Burns

Lata (25), a resident of Chokkasandra, received severe burns after she set herself on fire on Saturday. She has been admitted to Victoria Hospital.

According to the police, Lata and her husband, Ravi, had rented the house of Puttaswamy. Both entered the rented house with their luggage on Saturday. While Ravi was sorting out the luggage, Lata doused herself with kerosene and set herself on fire.

Lost

Subbarao Sharma, a retired government servant, lost his pension amount of Rs. 69,000 while he was travelling in a bus to Nelamangala, according to the police.

According to the police, Mr. Sharma withdrew the amount from his accounts in two banks on K.G. Road. He kept the amount in a cover and boarded the bus to go to his house. He later found that the cover had been stolen.

Chains snatched

Three women were robbed of their gold chains in as many incidents reported in the city on Saturday.

A woman travelling with her father in a bus going to Nandini Layout was robbed of her gold chain estimated at Rs. 25,000, according to the complaint.

Two motorcycle-borne men relieved Vimala Rao, a resident of Shankarapuram, of her gold chain while she was on a stroll. The Shankarapuram police have registered a case.

Renuka, a tailor at a fashion outlet, was relieved of her gold chain valued at Rs. 20,000 in BEML 3rd Stage when she was on her way to her office.

The police said that two persons stopped her and asked her about an address.

While she was answering their query, the two snatched the gold chain and fled on a motorcycle, the police added.
