HYDERABAD: The University of Hyderabad is among several universities and technical institutes which form part of the Collaborative Open Innovation Network (COIN) of the Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). The CSC, on Monday, introduced COIN to drive rapid innovation in information technology.
Collaboration
Called `Pragyan', the CSC's COIN will draw on its specialists to collaborate with more than 3,000 students, mentors and researchers from different universities, technical institutes and the Government. Chief Innovation Officer of CSC Lemuel Lasher, at a press conference, explained the working of `Pragyan'.
Source of ideas
Mr. Lasher said that India was the source of many new ideas in the IT industry. `Pragyan' would include mentoring of students and working on Government-sponsored programmes to bridge the industry-academia gap. To begin with, `Pragyan' would work on emerging technologies such as Services Oriented Architectures (SOA), Web 2.O, Open Source, and data mining, to intensify innovation and drive unique business value for CSC clients globally.
Research topics
The office of innovation of the company would select the research topics and provide programmes management for these projects. The CSC's operations in India would act as the incubation centre for the COIN projects.
