VISAKHAPATNAM: J. Deepan Chakkravarthy won the MAYTAS Vizag Challenger rapid chess tournament, defeating Koneru Humpy in the two-game blitz round here late on Sunday. The blitz round was restored to after the initial four-round contest ended in a 2-2 tie with all games ending in a draw. Deepan won the first game of the blitz round and the second ended in a draw. Earlier, Humpy won the eight-round Vizag Challenger Cup classical round contest. After the rapid chess tournament, both the GMs played simultaneous chess with about 50 local players including many promising children and gave them valuable tips. The Additional Director of Income Tax, B. Jayakumar, gave away the trophies to Humpy and Deepan. Humpy received prize money of Rs.80,000, while Deepan was presented Rs. 70,000. Special Correspondent
