THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac convened a pre-budget discussion with Government employees' organisations here on Monday to gather their ideas on resource mobilisation. The Federation of State Employees' and Teachers' Organisation described the discussion an extremely fruitful one. In a release, it said the unions used the occasion mainly to share their views with the Minister on how to tone up revenue collection and ensure financial discipline in the Government. According to the organisation, issues concerning employees also came up at the meeting. It said that the Minister responded "creatively" to issues such as dearness allowance, group insurance scheme, housing loan and anomalies in pay revision, which the unions raised at the meeting."This is the first time that the employees' unions are being called for a pre-budget discussion," the organisation said, praising the Government's "approach".
