CHENNAI: Electrofocus '07 will bring the best of young engineering brains in the country together. The technical fest of the Department of Electronics in the Madras Institute of Technology, Chromepet, begins on February 17 and will feature what the organisers promise "15 highly energetic and engaging events." A total prize money of Rs.1 lakh is up for grabs, the student organisers say. This year's event list includes several new events along with the conventional technical paper presentation, quiz and debugging. One of the most interesting events this year is the paper presentation with a social cause "Electronics reaching out to society", in which participants will present their revolutionary solutions to problems plaguing the society, ranging from water shortage to air pollution. Apart from this, there are also the project expo and circuit design contests for students who believe in working hands-on. The next generation of corporate and business executives will undergo "the ultimate managerial challenge", Managers Unplugged, which tests students' crisis management skills. There is also the open-to-all online event, "Chip in Online" for those who swear by circuit designing. Besides, there is "MATLAB Online", a semi-online event for those signal processing geeks. In addition, gaming enthusiasts get to pit themselves against their equals to battle it out for the title.
Technical talks
These events apart, Electrofocus `07 also boasts of technical talks and tutorials for the academically inclined. For further information, log on to www.miteea.com.
