Kannur town is getting ready for another spell of festival as the third Kannur Maholsavam begins on February 16 with various cultural programmes. The successful conduct of the State Schools Art Festival is still fresh in the memory of the people here. The Kannur Maholsavam was conceived as an annual cultural event to highlight the cultural heritage of the district. The negative image the district earned in the past due to its history of political violence has been given way to the positive one with the success in the organisation of the last two events. The district, in fact, stole the show with the event-free completion of the five-day State school fete. The organisers are trying to make the Kannur Maholsavam more colourful this time as there will be an array of cultural events that can showcase the heritage of the district.
