FORCEFUL: Over two thousand students from AVK Women's College taking out a protest rally against the award of the Cauvery tribunal in Hassan on Tuesday.
HASSAN: Over 2,000 students of Arakalagudu Varadarajulu Kanthamma Women's College took out a protest march against the award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal in Hassan on Tuesday. The undergraduate students began their silent procession after their morning classes from their college and stopped at NR Circle, where they formed a human chain, bringing traffic to a halt for more than 15 minutes. The students raised slogans that they were ready to shed their blood rather than agree to the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, and that the tribunal judgment was unscientific. They said that if water was released according to the directions of the award, then the districts of Mysore, Bangalore, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Hassan fed by the Cauvery would face severe drinking water problems during the summer.
