Kumaran in sole lead

Nagercoil: Former Asian under-7 bronze medallist B. Kumaran of Chennai was the sole leader with six points in boys' section, while World under-8 bronze medallist M. Mahalakshmi of Chennai was the sole leader with 5.5 points in girls' section at the end of sixth round of the 20th Dolphin Trophy State under-9 chess championship here on Tuesday.

State-level hockey

At Madurai, the eighth annual BJPM Trophy State-level hockey tournament, sponsored by Hi-Tech Arai and Bharat Petroleum and organised by Thirunagar Hockey Club, will start at the Thirunagar Hockey ground on Thursday.

Sixteen teams, including defending champion,Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (Chennai) are participating in the tournament, which concludes on February 18.

Carrom tournament
