VIJAYAWADA : The city police on Tuesday took five youths, including two from Hyderabad, into custody in connection with the murder of television newsreader Badiga Lakshmi Sujatha. They were questioned. The police were hopeful that the mystery would be unravelled in a day or two. Three of the suspects who were picked up hailed from Gudivada and happened to be childhood friends of the victim. Sujatha was found murdered in a lodge in Governorpet on Saturday.A native of Gudivada, she joined Teja News a year ago and is learnt to have led a luxurious life in Hyderabad while boasting of contacts with influential people. Even as she spent lavishly, Sujatha never had any financial problem. Her jovial and friendly nature helped her expand her circle of friends and acquaintances. When the television channel launched an FM radio channel six months ago, Sujatha was the obvious choice for the post of radio jockey. She ably balanced the two jobs, sources said. The police suspected that the offenders might have lured her with an offer of a lucrative opportunity to earn more and invited her to the lodge. The motive of the murder still remained a mystery.
