HYDERABAD: The OMR (optical mark reader) sheets of candidates who appeared for the District Selection Committee (DSC- 2006) in Kadapa district have been sent for forensic analysis following charges of tampering by some Education Department officials and teachers to favour a select few. Replying to supplementaries to a question on the DSC-2006 scam in the Assembly on Tuesday, School Education Minister N. Rajyalakshmi informed K. Atchan Naidu (TDP) and others that Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy had promptly ordered an inquiry. The Collector, in his report, said that the OMR sheets of Secondary Grade Teachers (Telugu) candidates were tampered.
Huge amounts collected
A Deputy Educational Officer and four teachers, who were arrested and sent to judicial remand, had confessed to their involvement in the tampering, she said, adding that huge amounts were collected from the candidates. Accusing the Opposition of politicising the issue, she asserted that the Government was not shielding anyone. Replying to another question, she said an online system to collect data of students and employees on the rolls had been introduced to exercise control over private and corporate schools.
