HYDERABAD: The State Government has assured Opposition parties that it will positively consider their demand for scrapping G.O. Ms. 12 that stood as a hurdle for grant of remission to prisoners who are serving life term in different prisons. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy assured a delegation of political parties that met him in the Assembly lobbies on Tuesday that he would look into the matter and take necessary action. Led by CPI State secretary K. Narayana, the delegation said the Government had raised hopes among these families that their relatives would be granted remission. Their hopes were, however, dashed following the release of the G.O. that was meant to keep in abeyance two other orders prescribing the modalities that should be adopted for grant of remission.
