CHANDIGARH: The stage is being set for the `Navyug'' rally to be held at Sirsa on February 25 to mark the completion of two years of the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress Government in Haryana.
Sonia to attend
One of the main organisers of the show, K. V. Singh, who not only belongs to Sirsa but is also the Officer on Special Duty to Mr. Hooda, told The Hindu telephonically from Sirsa that Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi would be the main speakers at the State-level rally which would be "unprecedented'' so far as turn-out and response of the people are concerned. Dr. Singh said the choice of Sirsa for the rally was politically significant as the region has generally been regarded as the home turf of former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal leader Om Prakash Chautala.
`Message to Chautala'
The Congress would, by organising a massive rally here, convey a strong message to the Chautala clan that
Dr. Singh disclosed that the rally would be held in the Police Lines at Sirsa and parking arrangements are being put in place to ensure that people did not have to walk more than 500 metres to the venue which has a capacity of over two lakh.
