KURNOOL: Parts of Kurnool district, which faced acute water shortage a few years ago, are now facing the problem of plenty. Farmers under KC canal in Bandi Atmakur mandal experienced waterlogged conditions, which affected their paddy yield this year. According to an estimate, farmers, who used excess water in the upper reaches, let it flow downstream causing drainage problems at the tail-end. The problem was noticed on about 3,000 acres in the mandal this year. Irrigation and agriculture departments were planning to educate farmers about the ill effects of excess irrigation.
