AMC: Congress bags four circle chief posts

CPI (M) bags one post with TDP's support

ANANTAPUR: Congress bagged four and CPI (M) one circle chairperson posts in Anantapur Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections, which were held on Tuesday. The CPI (M) with only two corporators could win the post with TDP's support.

Elections to the circle chairperson posts, which are held every year, were poised interestingly as several Congress corporators were aspiring for the posts. The circle chairperson posts are considered important as all works in the circle comprising 10 divisions each in case of the AMC are approved and sanctioned by the standing (circle) committees.
