Haryana to assess damage caused to crops

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda ordered special "girdawari" in the entire State on Tuesday to assess the damage caused to standing crops due to hailstorm and flooding of areas.

Reviewing the situation at a meeting here, Mr. Hooda directed that the special girdawari be conducted immediately and the report prepared within 10 days. He said the loss of life and property, if any, would also be assessed.

He also announced compensation of Rs.2 lakhs each to the families of four children who died due to lightning in Dhani Lamba village in Fatehabad district on February 11.
