Acquire overall skills, experts tell students

Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA : Speakers at an industry-institution interaction meet organised by P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts and Science (PG Centre) on Tuesday underlined the importance of developing overall skills to grab bright careers. They stressed the need for cultivating good attitude, rational outlook and hardworking nature.

State Bank of India deputy general manager K.S. Subramanian said positive attitude was a prerequisite to fit into a system and positive thinking would develop only when one begins to have belief in his or her own capabilities. He wanted students to think rationally and accept situations as they came.

Mr. Subramanian said the feeling that a system or idea was perfect beyond improvement was misplaced, as there would always be some scope for improving things, provided consistent efforts were made. "Never be in the habit of discrediting yourself. A strong belief in you will give rise to positive thoughts and actions," he advised.

Proper guidance

Lanco Kondapalli general manager A. Srinivasa Rao said however brilliant a student is; continuous assistance and proper guidance is necessary to find best opportunities for students.

A.P. Heavy Machinery and Engineering Limited managing director B. Nagabhushan Rao said that a firm resolve to learn managerial skills should be there to show that one had additional skills for taking up a task.

Attitude

Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Private Limited finance manager L. Vijay Kumar said every person would have enough energy and skills to perform better, but it would just be a question of how well one tried to use these energies. "Ultimately, your attitude will determine the altitude to which you rise in your career," he observed.

PG Centre director K. Krishna Murthy, head of department of business administration L. Anuradha, placement coordinator and PG centre assistant director Rajesh C. Jampala and others were present.
