ERODE: Two girls, who ran away from home near Kumbakonam when their father insisted they convert, were rescued by the Erode All-Women Police Station.

Subhashini (16) and her sister Mahalakshmi (9), daughters of Jayaraman of Suriyamalai, were among four children found loitering in the Erode Railway station last night.

A SHG member, Rita, brought them to the All-Women Police (AWP) Station. Subhashini told police she ran away, along with a third girl they met in a dargah at Valliyur, and boarded a train and reached Erode. They said their father wanted them to convert to Islam.
