KANCHEEPURAM : The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has decided to move the appropriate court to seek anticipatory bail for its Kancheepuram Town Secretary and Municipal Chairman V. Rajendran following a case filed by the Siva Kanchi police against AIADMK cadres for attempting to open a gruel centre at Pillayarpalayam here recently. According to party sources, Mr. Rajendran eluded the combing operation carried out by the police a few hours before the commencement of the agitation on Sunday. A total of 69 AIADMK cadres were picked up by the police from Kancheepuram town area on that day and were later remanded to 15 days judicial custody. In all, 98 AIADMK cadres were arrested and remanded on Sunday. Mr. Rajendran's residence and the civic body office on Indira Gandhi Salai have come under the police scanner for the past two days. AIADMK sources claimed that Siva Kanchi police were keen to arrest the Municipal Chairman since they believed that Mr. Rajendran had made the arrangements for the gruel centre agitation in his capacity as the AIADMK Kancheepuram Town Secretary. Meanwhile, bail orders have been obtained for the release of 29 AIADMK cadres, from a Kancheepuram court. And legal procedures have also been initiated to obtain bail orders for the remaining 69 cadres, sources said.
