Music festivals are not confined to December anymore. The Youth Association for Cultural Development plans to organise a yearlong music festival with a difference. To be inaugurated on February 25, the musical event, `Chennail Tamil Isai', would have an aesthetic blend of carnatic music and Tamil songs. The organisation, along with Sri Krishna Sweets, will host monthly concerts at Mylapore Fine Arts Club on every 4th Sunday to mark its 17th anniversary. The inaugural event would have Thirupughal and songs of Bharathiyar followed by a performance by Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan. The monthly concerts would also include performances of Sirkazhi G. Sivachidambaram, Neyveli Santhana Gopalan, O.S. Arun, Sudha Raghunathan, S. Sowmya, N. Vijay Shiva, O.S. Thyagarajan, Gayathri Girish, Sanjay Subramaniam, P. Unni Krishnan and Priya sisters. The association is also planning to organise a festival, `Gopalapurathil Kondattam', in and around Gopalapuram and Venugopalaswamy Temple targeting residents of various age groups. The event that would extend to January 2007 promises loads of fun with various programmes and contests.
