  • MCH Commissioner reviews sanitation and other civic works in these areas

HYDERABAD: The MCH has `taken over' 80 properties of the 109 structures lying between NFCL junction and Masab Tank to facilitate the ongoing road-widening programme, according to Commissioner Sanjay Jaju.

The Commissioner accompanied by senior officials inspected roads in Erragadda and Road No.1 Banjara Hills on Tuesday. Negotiations were going on with about 29 property owners, he said.

Road restoration, work on construction of boundary walls and the likes have begun near 70 properties and the same will be done at 10 more properties soon. Mr. Jaju pointed out that the road widths are to be increased to 100 feet from the existing 80 feet.

The Commissioner wanted speeding up of the works, including widening from Erragadda to Punjagutta, construction of retaining walls, shifting electric poles and so on. He also reviewed the progress of sanitation work, door-to-door garbage collection and other civic related works.

    Award

Women thrift groups formed through the Urban Community Department of MCH bagged the second prize for their product display during the 67th All India Industrial Exhibition held recently.

The department encourages women below the poverty line and living in slums with several poverty alleviation schemes like giving loans, skill upgradation training and establishing self-employment ventures by the self-help groups. About 40 select self-help groups formed under DWCUA have displayed embroidered products, mirror works, jute, beads, stone crafts, fabric painting, papads, pickles, ready to eat snacks and eatables during the exhibition.
