KOCHI: All private hospitals have been told to properly report incidence of communicable diseases to the district health authorities. At a meeting called by District Medical Officer K.T. Remani, as part of the decision taken by the Rapid Response Team, she said as many patients went to private hospitals authorities had to rely on the reports sent by them. "There has been a lot of under-reporting of diseases, especially in case of communicable diseases," said Ms. Remani. Representatives of many private hospitals took part in the meeting. She said all cases that came to the hospital till 1 p.m. should be reported the same day. Cases that came later should be communicated the following day, she added. Private hospitals should send reports either by fax or email (dmohekm@yahoo.com) or by telephone at 2373616. All private hospitals were asked to follow the fever management protocol circulated by the health authorities. The guidelines contained treatment modalities to be followed for fever and various communicable diseases.
