Power supply to be disrupted

Kochi: There will be no power supply from Vyttila Junction to Janata Road, Sahodaran Ayyappan Road and Ponnurunni on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to maintenance work at the Vyttila section. — Staff Reporter

Fire at shipyard

KOCHI: A fire broke out at the acetylene station of the Cochin Shipyard at 2.20 p.m. on Tuesday. It was put out by 3.45 p.m. by fire tenders of the shipyard and the Fire and Rescue Services. — Staff Reporter

Pharmacists' appeal

KOCHI: The Kerala Government Pharmacists' Association has demanded that the Central Purchase Committee that purchases medicines for Government hospitals be disbanded. Only this will prevent corruption in the purchase of medicines. The association said that a new set up, led by the Health Secretary, be formed for purchasing medicines. — Staff Reporter

SUCI demand

KOCHI: The Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) has protested against the delay on the part of health officials in initiating measures to prevent the spread of contagious diseases in Kochi. The organisation demanded that clean drinking water be made available in the district. — Staff Reporter

KOCHI: A series of discourses on Narayaneeyam, scheduled to start on Wednesday at the Ernakulam Gramajana Samooham, have been postponed, says a release issued by the Sree Sankara Santhi Nilayam and Educational Trust. — Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The action council formed to seek the arrest of those behind the death of Sulaikha of Pattimattom took out a march to the Crime Branch SP office in Kaloor. Sulaikha was found murdered in a rubber plantation in July last. — Staff Reporter
