BANGALORE: Working models of a dialysis unit, security alarm system, phone tapping, nervous system and electronically-controlled level crossings all these and many more models are on display at the two-day students' science exhibition organised by Vivekananada Degree College in Rajajinagar here on Tuesday. Science and Technology Minister Ramchandre Gowda inaugurated the exhibition on Tuesday. If the model of a dialysis unit, designed by Joseph, Monisha, Anjan, Harish and Babu of B.Sc., fourth semester seemed unusual in the zoology section, a working model of a railway station with a tunnel and electronic-controlled level crossings was the centre of attraction at the physics department. The college has spent more than Rs. 12,000 on this particular model, designed by Swetha Uday Palankar and her brother Vishwas Uday Palankar. "They took three months to prepare the model," head of the department Y.C. Gangadhar, told The Hindu . This model, which comprised two electronically controlled level crossings and a tunnel, was aimed at showcasing how train accidents and thefts could be prevented, Swetha said. That was not all. Another model that attracted the eye was that of a home security system. "We worked on it for three months and spent over Rs. 11,000," Namratha and Hamsageetha, students of fourth semester B.Sc., said.
