Software engineer's house burgled

BANGALORE: Burglars struck at a software engineer's house in Mahadevapura police station limits and made away with a laptop and other electronic goods, together worth Rs. 50,000.

The police said the theft, which took place at Satish's house in AVS Layout when he was away from Bangalore for a week, came to light on his arrival on Monday evening. The thieves had entered the house by breaking open the window grills. On a complaint by Satish, the Mahadevapura police have registered a case.

Suicide

A woman, working in a garment factory, reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ventilator grill of a toilet on the factory premises in Goruguntepalya in RMC Yard police station limits.

According to the police, Ammu (25) took the extreme step on Saturday evening, but since Sunday was a holiday and Karnataka bandh was declared on Monday, the incident came to light only on Tuesday morning.

Ammu, who was a resident of Jayabhuvaneshwari Nagar in Nandini Layout was allegedly being harassed by one of the supervisors at the garment factory, police said.
