This Day That Age
Acharya Vinoba Bhave cited the fidgeting cameraman at social functions as the specimen-product of "the present defective education system." The occasion was a post-prayer meeting in Kumbakonam. When the Acharya was expatiating on the evils of the education system in vogue, a cameraman popped up on the platform with great difficulty and poised his camera for a snap. The Acharya pointed at him and said: "That is exactly the defect of the new education system. Such intervention between the speaker and the audience, had it happened in olden days, would have been condemned as boorish. But today it is considered civilised. This act has caused wastage of time, distracting the attention of the people. I agree it was intended as a help to my cause. But it would have been good had he done it at the start or at the end."
