PMK on JIPMER issue

Special Correspondent

"Those opposing its efforts are trying to mislead people"

Puducherry: The Centre only wanted to augment facilities to provide excellent health care for patients in the JIPMER.

All propaganda against the Centre by the JIPMER Anti-Autonomy People's Action Committee here was only an attempt to mislead people by spreading wrong propaganda. Stating this here on Monday, Deputy Convener of the Tamil Nadu unit of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) N.G. Panneerselvam and its convener in Puducherry Pon Selvarasu said in a release that one was left wondering as to why the chairman of the anti-conversion committee T. Murugan was spreading wrong information against the two Members of Parliament, V. Narayanasamy and M. Ramadoss, on the JIPMER issue. The Centre on its part was keen to promote the JIPMER into a centre of excellence and national importance.

If one went through the contents of the draft Bill, a clear picture would emerge that free medical care would be available without break to the poor patients and students would face no hardship. If the action committee went ahead with its agitation on February 20, the workers the PMK would launch a counter agitation at the same venue and on the same date.
