"DEVOTION": A painting by Ram Kishore Yadav
NEW DELHI: He believes that devotion and love reveal the beauty of human nature. Small wonder then that Delhi-based artist Ram Kishore Yadav's ongoing exhibition at Lalit Kala Akademi is titled "Devotion". "The main feeders of my art are devotion and love; they form the inner strength of my work as a devoted artist. In fact, devotion and love have led me away from a conflicting world. Hence my imagery is both positive and constructive, more than real and more than just pleasing pictures," says the artist, who has participated in 66 solo exhibitions across the country and mounted 12 one-man exhibitions in the U.S., Poland, Belgium, Britain and Uzbekistan besides several other countries. Revealing that his earlier works depicted the sufferings of humanity, Yadav says he soon realised that suffering was not all. "Our efforts ought to be to get rid of suffering; to liberate ourselves from its clutches, its cause and extent." Yadav has been honoured with various awards including the national award for stamp design on Mahatma Gandhi's birth centenary in New Delhi and the Gold Medal and Certificate of the Patronage on the 50th anniversary of the United Nations. The exhibition is on view till Thursday.
