HYDERABAD: M. Padma Devender Reddy of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has said the interests of Telangana had been blatantly ignored in the Governor's address to the Assembly and tended to incite people of the region. Participating in a debate on the address in the House on Wednesday, she said the statement in the document that Telugu-speaking people had completed 50 years of existence under one State, was "good for reading at Gandhi Bhavan". The TRS member said Telangana accounted for 15 lakhs out of 24-lakh agriculture pump-sets in the State and yet no policy was announced to provide surface water. Nomula Narsimhaiah, CPI (M), said the address did not deal with problems of the majority and instead contained World Bank conditionalities in the guise of closure of RTC depots and fixation of water meters. P. Venkat Reddy (CPI) said farmers were facing problems on account of acquisition of fertile lands for the SEZs. G. Kishan Reddy (BJP) charged the Government with "miserably" failing to check farmers' suicides due to mounting debts. He accused it of cheating ryots in offering free power supply.
