People in this region believe in prayers to achieve their objective, says Veerendra Heggade

MANGALORE: A special "Mahamastakabhisheka" with Cauvery water will be performed to Bahubali at Dharmasthala on Sunday to pray for the due share of the river water for Karnataka, according to D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala.

He told presspersons here on Wednesday that abhisheka would also be performed to Lord Manjunathaswamy with Cauvery water on Sunday "to strengthen the hands of the State Government in its fight for the river water."

Water from Mysore

Dr. Heggade said that the water would be brought to Dharmasthala from the river by students of Shri Dharmasthala group of educational institutions on Saturday. Some MLAs would also accompany the students, he said.

The mahamastakabhisheka to Bahubali with 504 "kalashas'' will be performed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dr. Heggade said that common people protested on streets through different forms. People in this region believed in prayer to achieve their objective. Prayer was another form of protest, Dr. Heggade said.

Through the abhisheka and mahamastakabhisheka people of the region would join hands with others who were fighting for the cause of the Cauvery, Dr. Heggade said.

He said that in the last six days people who had visited Dharmasthala had appealed him do something for the cause of the Cauvery.

People of the region could only pray to strengthen the hands of the Government.

By doing so, people were adding their voice with others to get justice, Dr. Heggade added.
