HYDERABAD: The MCH has urged the citizens themselves to monitor garbage disposal system under its limits. The transport fleet management system now made available on its website (www.ourmch.com) gives complete logistic details of bins lifted, trucks' trips and so on. A radio frequency identification device on each vehicle, codified bin point programme, online link of transfer stations of Yousufguda, Tank Bund and Imlibun with the head office and in-house technology has made this possible. Movement of garbage trucks inside the stations can be viewed with the help of a web camera, Commissioner Sanjay Jaju told presspersons on Wednesday. A workshop was conducted for all additional commissioners, zonal commissioners plus the health and sanitation staff on the new facility.
Salaries hiked
An operator sitting at the transfer stations will keep a tab on bins and trucks entering and leaving the premises. Each driver will be given a receipt on completion of a trip and all the scheduled trips from different areas can be accessed straightaway from the website. The Commissioner said the system was tamper-proof. The salaries of the drivers have also been increased from Rs. 2,200 per month to Rs. 4,500 to prevent them from resorting to illegal sale of fuel. Save for a few places in Circle II, the entire city has been covered with dumper bin network. The number of bins increased to 2,300 from 1,200 and open points of about 4,500 have been taken off as also private open tippers, saving Rs. 8 crores. "Within three months we want to bring 6,000 to 7,000 bulk garbage generating units under the system where the garbage will be directly collected from their doorstep for a small fee of about Rs. 500 per month. We might do the same with debris removal," said Mr. Jaju. For making complaints, email on www.ourmch.com, SMS on 8888 and telephone at the call centre 1100.
