BANGALORE: At a time when engineering, medicine and management courses have taken sheen off the basic science courses, it is refreshing to see an exhibition displaying the basic concepts of science and technology. Organised to instil scientific temper in young minds and identify creativity, the zonal level science models exhibition inaugurated at Maharani Science College on Wednesday has attracted good participation from the undergraduate students of Bangalore zone. Eight themes and 70 models provide a wealth of information to the visitors. The themes for the exhibition have been divided into sections of principles and concepts of science and their application, role of nanotechnology in human welfare, water conservation, waste management, computer as a tool in science education, natural disaster management, contribution of biotechnology and non-conventional energy sources and their economic fallout. Students from 50 undergraduate colleges in Bangalore zone are vying for a spot in the finals to be held later.
