Four killed in road accidents in city

BANGALORE: Four persons were killed in road accidents in the city and on its outskirts on Tuesday night.

Two youths were killed after a lorry rammed the motorcycle, which they were riding on Bangalore-Mysore Highway. The accident took place around 7 p.m. near Hejjala in Bidadi police station limits, the police said.

The police gave the names of the dead as Narayanaswamy (25) of Gerupalya and Jayaram (23) of Madivala. The Bidadi police have seized the lorry and registered a case.

In a similar incident, Venkatesh (32) was killed after a lorry hit his motorcycle on Channasandra Main Road in K.R. Puram police station limits. He was a resident of Harohalli, the police said.

Chikkakare Gowda (28) of Kanakapura, a pedestrian, was killed in a hit-and-run case reported from near Central Silk Board junction on Hosur Road. The Madivala traffic police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the vehicle that hit Gowda.

Suicides

P. Ravi (22), an autorickshaw driver, committed suicide by jumping in front of the Kurla Express at Boopasandra in Bayappanahalli railway police station limits around 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The police said Ravi, a resident of Nagashettihalli, had committed suicide following marital discord. Shanthamma (60), a beggar, committed suicide by consuming poison near the PWD office at K.R. Circle on Tuesday night.

Burglary

Burglars struck at a BDA employee's house in Dhanush Layout in Vidyaranyapura police station limits on Tuesday night and made away with gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. The police said they were yet to ascertain the value of the stolen property as the family of Narasimhaiah is away from the city.

Injured

Krishna (35), a real estate agent and a resident of Pattegarpalya, suffered serious injuries after he was attacked with hockey sticks by his business associates on Tuesday. The Vijayanagar police attributed the motive to a financial dispute and have registered a case.

Fatally attacked

Two persons armed with lethal weapons attacked one Padmanabha in Lingarajapuram on Tuesday afternoon injuring him seriously. Padmanabha was admitted to a hospital where he died on Tuesday night. According to the police, Padmanabha's brother Nandan, who is working in the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences, had lent money to Hari and Manjunath and had sent his brother to recover it. After an altercation, Hari and Manjunath allegedly attacked Padmanabha.
