NTPC pays record dividend

NEW DELHI: The public sector NTPC on Wednesday said it had paid the highest dividend of Rs. 1978.92 crore in its history for the current fiscal.

The company has paid an interim dividend of 24 per cent, that is Rs. 2.40 on shares of Rs. 10 each on the paid-up capital for 2006-07.

NTPC Chairman and Managing Director T. Sankaralingam presented a cheque for Rs. 1,771.11 crore as the share of the Union Government to Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, the PSU said.
