NEW DELHI: A delegation of MLAs, Councillors and Congress leaders led by Outer Delhi MP Sajjan Kumar called on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday to thank her for the efforts put in by her Government to regularise 1,500 unauthorised colonies and extended abadi areas of the villages, thereby ensuring provision of all civic amenities therein. Mr. Kumar said with the efforts of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Ms. Dikshit the sword of uncertainty hanging over lakhs of residents of these areas had been removed. Stating that a lot of people from the economically weaker sections of society would benefit from the move, he said it was the Special Session of the Assembly called by the Delhi Government that immensely helped in discussion the issue and getting the views of the people incorporated in the new Master Plan for Delhi-2021. The MP, who was accompanied by MLAs Mahabal Mishra, Mukesh Sharma, Surender Kumar, Vijay Lochav, Bijender Singh, Balram Tanwar and Mala Ram Gangwal among others, urged the Chief Minister to use the special fund created for the development of these colonies for providing all the civic amenities to the people.
