Staff Reporter

ERODE: An aged couple was murdered by their grandson. Sundaramurthy (25), a physically challenged person of Karattupalayam, Anthiyur, demanded that his father Viswanathan and grandfather Chennimalai Gounder arrange marriage for him. He also wanted them to transfer all their property in his name.

There used to be frequent quarrels in the family on these issues. On Wednesday night when Sundaramurthy and his father Viswanathan were walking together, Sundaramurthy pushed his father into a well on their land.

After some time when his grandmother Nallammal (65) came there Sundaramurthy pushed her too into the same well. Nallammal drowned. On hearing the noise Chennimalai Gounder and Sundaramurthy's mother Vijayalakshmicame there. Sundaramurthy told his mother that he had pushed his father and grandmother into the well. He took a stick and beat his grandfather and killed him.

However, Viswanathan survived. Later, both mother and son took body of Chennimalai Gounder to their house and informed the police that some dacoits killed him. Anthiyur police who recorded Sundaramurthy's statement suspected some foul play. During interrogation mother and son admitted that Sundaramurthy murdered the old couple. The police recovered the body of Nallammal from the well, registered a case against Sundaramurthy and Vijayalakshmi.
