NEW DELHI:
Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Thursday praised the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) who caught his parents-in-law travelling without tickets on the Darbhanga-New Delhi Sampark Kranti Express, stating it would set a lesson for those travelling without tickets.
Mr. Prasad said: ``Prompt action taken by the TTE with regard to my in-laws is a matter of pride for the Railways.
Bold step
``His bold step to penalise them for ticket-less travel is commendable. It is a lesson to those travelling without tickets.''
Mr. Lalu was talking to newspersons at the Rail Bhavan after the signing of an agreement between the Railways and the ICICI Bank.
Admitting that it was a mistake on the part of his parents-in-law to travel without valid tickets, Mr. Prasad said they rectified their wrong by quickly paying the penalty amount.
The blowing up of the whole controversy was in ``bad taste,'' he added.
