CUDDALORE: Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption personnel arrested 31 touts at the Regional Transport Office here on Wednesday. The provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act were invoked against them. They were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, who had ordered judicial custody. Subsequently, they were kept in the Cuddalore Central Prison. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DVAC) R. Ambikapathi said his department had received many complaints from the public alleging rampant corruption in the RTO office at Semmandalam. The DSP with a team of 25 personnel, including six Inspectors, raided the RTO office and rounded up the touts. Incriminating documents and unaccounted cash amounting to over Rs.1 lakh were seized.
