On the occasion, the Minister dedicated a poclain purchased at a cost of Rs.20 lakh for public purpose, and a washing ghat set up at a cost of Rs 15 lakh. The town was generating 35 tonnes of garbage every day. Two tipper lorries and three lorries were pressed into service for garbage removal and soon the number of tipper lorries would be increased to five. At present 390 sodium-vapour lamps and 11 high mast lamps had been set up in the town. All the 1,461 streetlights would be fitted with sodium vapour lamps in a phased manner.
