dated February 16, 1957: Lord Pethick-Lawrence

Lord Pethick-Lawrence, 85-year-old Labour elder statesman and former Secretary of State for India, married Mrs. Helen Miller McCombie in London on February 14. Lord Pethick-Lawrence headed the British Cabinet Mission which negotiated the transfer of power in India in 1946. His first wife died in 1954 after 53 years of marriage. Like her, Mrs. McCombie (68) was actively connected with the suffragette movement in Britain.
