BERHAMPUR : State Bank of India (SBI) plans to open up ATM counters at 39 railway stations in Orissa circle. The Bank is going increase the number of ATM counters in this circle to 330 by the March 2008. The general manager, Network II of SBI Bhubaneswar circle, D.U. Nawalkar said SBI customers in Orissa as well as in Berhampur have started to become ATM savvy. He inaugurated the third twin ATM counter of the State at the SBI main branch of the city on Thursday afternoon. It is the eighth ATM counter of the bank in the city. With this, the number of ATM counters in Orissa has reached 220. In Berhampur city around 15,000 SBI customers are using ATM cards. Their number in the Berhampur module of south Orissa is around 1.90 lakh.
Growing popularity
Mr. Nawalkar said the ATM counters in the city are showing heavy transaction. The average hit rate of an SBI ATM counter is 382 per day but in Berhampur module the average hit rate is 404. The ATM counter at the Berhampur main branch has 569 hits on average per day. The SBI is introducing add-up facilities for ATM users, which include transfer of donations to trusts, mobile top up, fees payment, bill payment, SBI Card payment etc through ATM counters apart from facility to withdraw cash.
