Rupee rises further


MUMBAI: The rupee appreciated further and closed at 44.0950/1050 against the U.S. currency following sharp recovery in equity markets amid weak dollar overseas. The rupee has gained 11 paise in last two days.

In active trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the Indian unit opened firm at 44.08/09 a dollar from Wednesday's close of 44.1250/1350 a dollar.

It moved in a range of 44.06 and 44.12 before ending the day higher at 44.0950/1050 a dollar.
