Unscheduled power supply claims two lives

Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI: Fatalities caused by midnight power supply to farm sector continues unabated in Chittoor district located at the tail-end of the power-grid. The latest case was reported from the Cheruvumundara Palle near Piler, 40-km from here, where a 50-year-old farmer Lakshman Reddy and his son Thrivikram Reddy (21), were electrocuted in the wee hours of Monday. Information reaching here said that Thrivikram Reddy was electrocuted when he came into contact with a live wire connected to the only lamp in the farm.

As he raised alarm, his father rushed to him and tried to pull him out only to meet death.

His son-in-law Dhamarakanadha Reddy (40), however, escaped with injuries. Power officials attributed the incident to poor quality of the electric wire used for the light at the pump house.
