FULFIL PROMISES: Members of the Bahujan Horata Samiti staging a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioners office in Gulbarga on Thursday.
GULBARGA: Members of the Bahujan Horata Samiti staged a protest in Gulbarga on Thursday demanding the State Government to fulfil its promise of waiving crop loans taken by farmers from cooperative and scheduled banks. It also urged it to impose a ban on online lotteries immediately.
Procession
The members of the samiti, led by its president Lakshman Kore, came in a procession to the Deputy Commissioner's office and staged a protest for more than one hour. They submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to the district administration. The memorandum said the Government should not go back on its assurance to waive crop loans. It should not limit the waiver to cooperative banks alone but extend the scheme even to farmers who had taken loans from scheduled banks. They urged the Government to fulfil its promise to ban online lotteries in the State, which was ruining the lives of thousands of families everyday. They urged the Government to stick on to the Common Minimum Programme agreed upon by both the Janata Dal(S) and the Bharathiya Janata Party and not deviate from it.
